As a nonprofit organization that’s dedicated to helping other nonprofits, ReSource was honored to join other corporate and nonprofit partners – Procter & Gamble, the Reds Community Fund, the Cincinnati Zoo, Kroger, Interact for Health, Cincinnati Toolbank and others – to complete the 2016 Community Makeover on Thursday, July 28.
The Community Makeover project is an annual service project and this was ReSource’s first year as a partner. The 2016 Makeover benefited Lower Price Hill, with about 400 volunteers supporting the effort, working in 3 project locations in the neighborhood.
ReSource contributed design support and furnishings for the Espy Center makeover, which upgraded a dedicated space for children to participate in activities, do homework and hang out with each other in a safe space. We also utilized our relationship with Axis Interior Systems to carpet the entire center at deeply discounted pricing. This center has now been renamed as the Joe Williams Family Center and is a collaborative effort between Community Matters, who owns the building, and Santa Maria Services, which will run the Center. They will host an Open House on Friday evening, August 26.

Other parts of the Makeover project included enhancements to the Evans Field and Playground, as well as the Community Gardens, which is now the largest greenspace in Lower Price Hill with natural playscape and learning gardens for children.
We at ReSource were eager to join this growing movement that significantly impacts many residents in specific communities. ReSource is a non-profit that helps other area non-profits stretch their dollar by providing training, connections and surplus corporate furniture, equipment and merchandise that would otherwise be discarded.
