ReSource Participates in Red’s Community Makeover

The 2017 ReSource Team

ReSource is proud to have joined the Cincinnati Red’s Community Makeover Day as a project partner! The 2017 day of service was held on July 20th in the Cincinnati neighborhood of Evanston. ReSource provided design support and furniture to renovate the old Hoffman School building.

Over 400 volunteers from P&G, Kroger, and the Cincinnati Zoo participated in the day long project. At the Hoffman School, renovations included upgrades to the kitchen, cafeteria, and gym as well as meeting and community spaces, with the goal to reduce operating costs and energy usage. As part of the project, the Hoffman baseball fields also received a major makeover.

Another exciting aspect of the project was the creation of a Naturescape; a nature-inspired community playground that includes an interactive building and play area, water feature, and 75-foot zip line along with walking trails and log paths.

The Community Makeover Day was created to transform and impact an urban neighborhood, while also improving the local youth baseball and softball programs. Overall, the project looks to invest in the long term development of Evanston and its residents.

In our second year participating as a project partner, ReSource joined in partnership with the Reds Community Fund, P&G, Cincinnati Zoo, Kroger, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Interact For Health, Cincinnati ToolBank, and Cincinnati Recreation Commission.

It is our mission to build stronger nonprofits. By partnering with projects such as the Community Makeover Day, ReSource is continually working to build and empower a sustainable community throughout the Greater Cincinnati area.

On-The-Rise YP Program Underway

ReSource’s On-The-Rise program for young professionals is underway! The program kicked off on Thursday, June 8th as this year’s group met at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital’s Herald Building.

On-The-Rise is designed to bring together a group of talented and driven young professionals (“YPs”) to partner with local nonprofits that serve the greater Cincinnati area. Through this program, participants are able to connect with new people and new causes, while providing invaluable professional services to a local nonprofit agency.

This year’s program pairs young professionals with the following partner agencies:

Cancer Family Care, Health Care Connection, Interfaith Hospitality Network, and Ohio Cleats for Kids.  The YPs will work with these agencies on special projects and planning an event for each agency.

ReSource is excited to welcome the following YPs to our On-The-Rise program:

Ryan Pauley (USI Insurance), Katherine Devora (USI Insurance), Joshua Schroer (US Bank), Jonathan Stanwyck (US Bank), Aaron Senich (TriHealth), Meghan Jones Dick (TriHealth), Chris Quigley (Messer Construction), Tim Schirmann (Messer Construction), Kristina Wilber (The Christ Hospital), Patrick Rodriguez (The Christ Hospital), Sarah Edwards (The Christ Hospital), Ashley Clos (The Christ Hospital), Katie McDermot (CBRE), Page Natoli (Phillips Edison), John Strittholt (Deloitte & Touche), and J.B. Bernhard (Cushman Wakefield).

On-The-Rise is co-chaired by ReSource board members Katie Schneider and Justin Hartfiel. The program runs until October, and concludes with the YPs attending ReSource’s annual gala.

If your agency is interested in YP assistance, or you are a YP interested in networking and getting more involved in your community, we encourage you to apply for next year’s On-The-Rise program!
